At my home, Windy Fox Hill, I love watching storms roll in from the west—the shifting colors, the textures of the clouds, and the sheer power of the sky. Those moments inspired this original acrylic painting.
As I painted, I explored several landscapes before finding the quiet hills and water that felt right beneath the turbulent clouds. Deep blues and grays sweep across the sky, broken by luminous passages of white, while the water below holds a softer light. That balance between movement and stillness became the heart of the piece.
At five feet wide, Stormy Skies invites you into the landscape, offering both the commanding presence of an approaching storm and the calm beneath it.
