Just ten minutes from my home, the sunflower fields at McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area offered the perfect setting for a sunrise photo session with my friend Shadiyah. We had so much fun making photographs among the flowers, but this is the image I keep coming back to.
Beneath her luminous green parasol, Shadiyah is surrounded by golden blooms that seem to bow toward her. I love that gesture—as though flowers known for following the sun had found another source of light. Her quiet presence amid the exuberance of the field captures everything I loved about that morning: warmth, beauty, and the joy of creating with a friend.
