Bottle No. 5
Fine Art Photography · Limited Edition of 5
Light has a way of revealing what darkness keeps. In Bottle No. 5, a champagne bottle emerges from deep shadow, its form traced by a single thread of light that follows the curve of the glass, catches the foil at the neck, and dissolves back into black. Much of the bottle is never shown at all; it is the edge of light that tells you what is there.
The image took a carefully built lighting setup to achieve. Each source had to be positioned to sculpt the bottle’s silhouette while keeping the background entirely dark, so that what remains is quiet, elegant, and almost architectural.
Bottle No. 5 was originally created for a fundraiser.
