Wow, that year flew by … we have been in our studio at the Arts Barn for one year! It has been wonderful, we truly love being there. We believe we have been able to connect more with the community and our classes and workshops are even better than before. And to have a dedicated creative space is a such a beautiful gift … we go there and can’t help but want to bring our dreams to life. The greatest compliment has been when people walk in and feel welcome … that is a huge part of our mission. Art should not be intimidating, it should be engaging and that is what we are all about.
We hope you’ll come by and help us celebrate our one year anniversary at the Arts Barn, we will have interesting things going on all month … stay tuned.
We are going to be part of “Paint the Town” this year … yeah!! There will be two of Jaree’s paintings in this exhibit … the abstract autumnal, “Tumbling” and a brand new piece, an fun acrylic abstract, “The Colors of Kensington”. It is supposed to represent what you would see if you were flying through town at hyper speed … the blur of the trees, buildings and sky all into the vortex of where you are going. Really, the lingering visual memory of Kensington traveling with you. Photo to come, it is at the framer’s right now.
Hope to see you at the show!!
Hi … sorry for the hiatus, but it was a REALLY busy summer with five weeks of camps. Fantastic, though, probably the best summer we have ever had instructing … super kids, great projects, wonderful assistants. I am officially spoiled.
We are taking a short break to head back to the midwest for a few days and then hopefully the beach for a few days, but our autumn is already well planned. If you would like to see what we will be teaching, check out our updated Classes and Workshops page. And we are lining up exhibitions … check them out on our Exhibitions page.
Hope you enjoy these last days of summer!!
We were finally able to get some of our paintings photographed and listed at Etsy. Whoo-hoo! They are also in the Portfolio section here at the website and on our page at Facebook. Hope you will get a chance to check them out! We would love to know your thoughts …
Don’t you just love early summer? The temps are still great, there is not too much humidity yet, such potential for fun. I want to be out playing, not working!!
Wishing everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend! We have the weekend “off”, but we’ll be working on the studio garden and hopefully some fun, creative projects, too. What are you doing this weekend?
We are going to be a the Gaithersburg Book Festival this Saturday, May 18th and really looking forward to it! We are so excited to have opening today our first fine art jewelry exhibition at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn. We chose to be inspired by Wu Xing – The Five Elements, which consist of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. All of the pieces are one-of-a-kind and were handmade in the studio over the last several weeks. The show will be open through May 26th. The artist reception will be on April 9th from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. We hope you can come by to see the pieces in person, the photos do not do them justice. If you want more details about any piece, just drop us a line! We’ll chat about each one more over the next few weeks …
